Design and Looks
The LG KP265 is an interesting handset to look at especially in the black and red combination. At first glance, the phone gives the user the distinct impression that it is a clamshell while it is actually a slider. The front flap of the phone does not cover the entire lower chassis at the bottom. This is a premeditated aspect of the design as the speaker is located at the bottom of the phone which is exposed regardless of whether the phone's flap is up or down. Our only qualms with the phone's design are the cheap looking D-pad. Thankfully it is functional and easy to use. Another disappointing aspect is that the phone sports a small low-resolution low-colour screen that is also available on LG's cheapest handsets. To talk about its performance; its size is an indication of its quality.
Sliding the phone up reveals a flat keypad with small keys- needless to say it's very hard to use and typos are possible. The phone has a few tricks up its sleeve including a video player (which is rare among Dynamite phones), Bluetooth messaging, FM radio, music player and integration with RockeTalk social networking site. Music sounds decent on this phone but we wouldn't recommend the headsets that come bundled with the handset. Luckily, the phone features a standard 3.5mm audio port which means that you can connect the most common types of headsets. But the phone's most unique feature is the 1.3MP camera. We say it is the most unique because it is only one of the features with a dedicated button for it. In reality, the camera quality is rubbish and noisy and we've seen cheaper LG phones with better image editing options than this.
We wouldn't recommend this phone by a long shot- not because it's bad but there are far better alternatives than this one.
