Design and Looks
The LG GB220 Dynamite is not the best looking clamshell phone but is ergonomic and functional. It is also one of the slimmest clamshells we have seen. The only remarkable thing about its design is the large D-pad controls and the alphanumeric keypad. The alphanumeric keys are almost flat and hard to press. It's not too bad either and is suitable for occasional texting. Other exterior features include a secondary display and the VGA camera on the front, and a dismally small 1.77-inch 65K colours primary screen on the inside. On the whole, the phone is pretty sturdy and boasts of excellent build quality.
The phone is also very simple to use courtesy the logical graphic user interface. It performs the simplest of feature-functions like mp3 music playback, FM radio and photography and video recording through the built-in 1.3MP camera. The music player is capable of the popular mp3 format in addition to AAC and AAC+ digital music formats. There are no customizable equalizer presets but there are six pre-defined ones to choose from. FM radio includes a broadcast recording feature. The camera includes many image editing options and also video recording in QCIF resolution. Applications include the regular Java set in addition to social networking integration with RockeTalk and Just Cricket.
Although this phone packs in a camera and music player, do not assume it's good at these functions. The phone is also known to hang and freeze on occasion. We can also think of better alternatives that are only slightly more expensive than this one. The only thing going on with this phone is a good battery life.
