Design and Looks
LG are always mixing things up with interesting designs. This time around the KG195 features a brushed-metal exterior and switch like call-end/soft keys. Other features are standard bar phone but the entire effect is quaint and classy looking. The phone's screen is the same dismal 1.77-inch thing that we have been seeing on other basic LG phones. The only novelties here are the big new nav-pad and a small and not so finger friendly alphanumeric keypad. The nav-pad is four-way but this time around the confirming centre is smaller than the four-way ring of the D-pad. This nav-pad incorporates a clear key that beautifully fits the design.
The phone's user interface is the same one as one most other Bullet and Dynamite phones in the LG series. We believe there is very little difference in the hardware aspect of these phones and LG may just as well be repackaging one phone and passing it off as a new model. The phone incorporates a 1.3MP camera with few imaging options. In fact, some of the other phones in this series with lower-quality VGA cameras have more imaging options than this one. Apart from the eye at the back, the phone also sports an mp3 player and FM radio. Music can also be played over speakerphone and users are not necessarily restricted to the proprietary headset that came with phone.
This phone allows users to send SMS via Bluetooth. We can imagine many impecunious college students making good use of this facility. Finally, the phone also features social networking integration with RockeTalk- it's not very popular platform and we don't think there'll be many takers for that feature.
At this price, we can say that this phone is a good buy, but if users paid a little more, they would get a much better deal. But the good classic looks and the long battery life is definitely a trick up the GB210's sleeve.
